Gov. Tom Corbett on Tuesday signed a bill to widen the right to use deadly force in self defense.
The bill, enacted by the Senate last week, will expand the state’s castle doctrine to allow the right to use a gun or other deadly force in self defense in situations outside a person’s home or business.

Wisconsin is on the verge of becoming the 49th state to allow its citizens to carry concealed guns, leaving only Illinois without such a law.

Both chambers of the Wisconsin state legislature have voted to approve one of the nation’s strongest Right-to-Carry bills, by solid bipartisan margins. Senate Bill 93, which was strongly backed by NRA, now goes to Governor Scott Walker (R) for his expected signature.

Today, the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee voted to table Senate Bill 25. Thanks to your vocal opposition to this bill, SB 25 has been essentially defeated for this session.

This Monday, June 20, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6:00 p.m. to discuss a firearm discharge ordinance. The NRA has not yet seen this proposal and is attempting to obtain a copy, but the Commerce News Today quoted Commissioner Tom Crow as expressing concern over the fact that the proposed discharge ban language affects, “…not only a subdivision, but any residential home in the county, whether that home is located on a half acre or 50 acres. ” To read this article, please click here.

A top Republican has rejected the notion that Congress should re examine the nation’s gun laws after al Qaeda urged Muslims to attack America by exploiting loose firearm rules.
Rep. Lamar Smith (R Texas), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said tightening gun laws to address the threat would be to surrender to terrorists at the expense of Americans’ rights.
